How do I get services for my child through Green Apple Therapy?
If you are concerned about your child, you can make a referral by calling our office at (817) 550-5058. We will take your information and coordinate a referral with your physician. You can also email Green Apple your contact information and we will call you to discuss your concerns and begin the referral process.
What information do I need when I refer my child?
We will need your child’s name, date of birth, insurance information, and physician’s name. We will also need your name, home address, and telephone number.
What is the referral process like, and how long does it take?
Once we have your child’s information, we send a referral to your child’s physician to obtain doctor’s orders. Once we have gotten the doctor’s orders, one of our therapists will call you to schedule an evaluation. The referral process usually takes between 1-7 days.
What happens after the evaluation?
The therapist will explain the results of the evaluation to you and make recommendations. Once the evaluation is completed, we get doctor’s orders to complete any therapy that has been recommended and obtain any necessary authorizations from your insurance company. Once these steps are complete, your child’s therapist(s) will call to schedule treatment. This process generally takes 7-10 days.
Is my child eligible to receive services from Green Apple Therapy?
Any child up to 20 years of age, who has a delay or disorder that would warrant speech, physical, and/or occupational therapy and lives within our service area, can qualify for our services.
Each child is evaluated by the appropriate therapist(s). Our therapists will work with you to determine if your child would benefit from therapy.
Do you accept my child’s insurance?
Green Apple Therapy is currently working to become providers from many area insurance companies. Please contact us to determine if we accept your child’s insurance.
My child does not qualify for therapy at the school district. Can they still get services from Green Apple Therapy?
Yes. While the school districts must follow an educational model for therapy, meaning that the delay or disorder must interfere with the child’s ability to learn in a school environment, Green Apple Therapy follows a medical model. We treat delays and disorders that interfere with a person’s ability to participate in all aspects of their life. Because of this difference, we are frequently able to provide therapy services for children who do not qualify for services through their school district.
My child already receives therapy through the school district. Can he/she still get services from Green Apple Therapy?
Yes. Green Apple Therapy can provide therapy, in addition to therapy received through your child’s school district. This benefits your child because we have the ability to look at the larger picture of how your child’s delays or disorders affect their lives and are not limited to merely how it affects their school work. We will attempt to coordinate with your school therapists, if you allow us to communicate with them.
Where does therapy take place?
We have multiple options to best serve your child. We can treat your child in your home, child’s daycare center, a family members’ home , or any other place where your child is located during the day. We are unable to provide services in our offices.
How long will my child need therapy?
Every child is different, has different needs, and progresses at different rates. We can never guarantee a time frame for therapy. Some factors that may affect the rate of progress include the child’s participation and behavior in therapy, the family’s involvement and follow through with the therapist’s recommendations, and any medical factors present.
